Spasticity Center 

The Spasticity Center affiliated with the Walter and Michelle Stys Neuroscience Institute at Wolfson Children’s Hospital treats infants, children and adults with spasticity caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy, severe head or spine trauma or stroke.

Our multidisciplinary medical staff is comprised of nationally recognized pediatric subspecialists with Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, Jacksonville and the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville.

Wolfson Children’s Hospital is ranked as one the 50 Best Children’s Hospitals in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery care by U.S. News & World Report.

Treatments We Offer

We often treat spasticity through a combination of physical and occupational therapies and/or oral medications, but when these therapies do not work or are no longer effective, there are multiple treatment options, including surgical ones, such as:

  • Botox Injections
  • Baclofen Pump Therapy
  • Rhizotomy Procedure
  • Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery
    • Tendon-Lengthening
    • Tendon Transfer
    • Osteotomy of the Femur, Tibia or Foot
    • Bone Fusion
