Anesthesia plays a critical role in the treatment and recovery of patients at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. All anesthesia services at Wolfson are provided by subspecialty-trained, board-certified pediatric anesthesiologists with Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, Jacksonville, who specialize in the treatment of newborns, children and adolescents. We work closely with pediatric surgeons and pediatric surgical subspecialists to ensure the safest, most comfortable and best outcomes possible for our young patients.
Services are provided in the state-of-the-art pediatric operating rooms at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and in the Pediatric Outpatient Surgery Center at 1235 San Marco Blvd. Our operating rooms are fully equipped with the latest technology and staffed with specially trained surgical nurses and technicians who are experienced and skilled in taking care of children who are surgical patients.
Our physicians, who care for 13,000 Wolfson patients annually, provide anesthesiology services for children undergoing: cardiac catheterization, MRIs and CT scans, nuclear medicine scans, invasive radiology tests, endoscopy procedures and other special procedures.
In addition, an acute pain service is dedicated to the care and treatment of acute postoperative pain.
